South Windsor Introduces 'Warm Communities' Initiative
South Windsor Police Department doesn't want residents to have to wait in the cold anymore.

The South Windsor Police Department took to Facebook to tell the story of a woman who missed her bus by a single minute on Feb. 16, a day that it was 14 degrees outside. They wrote that she had to wait another hour for her transportation to arrive.
“Every time an individual waits for the bus for an extended period, or must walk to work, or a perhaps a person out shoveling snow, it is impossible not to feel for their plight,” South Windsor Police Department wrote.
In reaction to this, South Windsor will launch it’s initiative called “Warm Communities.” The department wrote that once the weather begins to cool down again in the fall, police will distribute hand warmers to those who have to stand in the cold and inclement weather for extended periods of time, most likely waiting for public transportation.
