South Windsor Police Department Looking for Penguin Plungers
Annual Penguin Plunge in Ellington, which is organized by the police department, raises money for Special Olympics Connecticut.

The following is a press release from the South Windsor police department:
On March 23, brave souls with warm hearts will once again be heating up the chilly winter waters to participate in the fourth annual Penguin Plunge at Crystal Lake on Route 140 in Ellington.
Registration on the day of the Plunge will be from 10 to - 11:45 a.m., and the penguins will take the plunge at noon.

The South Windsor Police Department is the event organizer. We are hoping to recruit 100 “penguins’ from schools, businesses and civic groups to “take the plunge” and support Special Olympics Connecticut, which provides year-round sports training and competition opportunities for over 8,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities

The South Windsor Police Department was recently recognized by Special Olympics Connecticut for being the top fundraising law enforcement agancy last year. The police department raised over $45,000 in 2012.
