South Windsor Police: Man Attempts to Escape Custody While Receiving Medical Attention

Corey Ouimette, 35, faces several charges after pushing an officer at Manchester Hospital.

A South Windsor man, while being charged by police on several warrants Tuesday, attempted to escape custody by complaining of chest pains and needing medical attention.

Corey Ouimette, 35, of 195 Scantic Meadow Road, was transported to Manchester Hospital by ambulance with an officer to guard him, according to police.

While being examined, Ouimette attempted to escape by pushing the officer and fleeing toward an exit door, police said.

The officer subdued Ouimette with a Taser, according to police.

Ouimette was later discharged from the hospital and returned to police headquarters, where he was charged with escape from custody, two counts of failure to appear in the second degree and violation of probation, police said.

Ouimette was held on $82,500 surety bond and was presented at Manchester Superior Court on March 6.
