South Windsor residents Christopher Cox and Morgan Ledden were recently named Universal Technical Institute (UTI), scholarship winners for their successful efforts in the Diesel Equipment Technology Competition at A.I. Prince Technical High School in Hartford.
Cox and Ledden, who attend Howell Cheney Technical High School in Manchester, were both awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Cox earned fifth place in the SkillsUSA Connecticut event, a "showcase for the best career and technical students in the nation," according to its Web site.
Ledden tied for sixth place with Brandon Gothberg from East Hartford.
“Our students do exceptionally well at the SkillsUSA State competition, which is a credit to Cheney’s program and staff,” said Joseph Hollay, head of the Cheney's Diesel and Heavy Equipment Repair.
