South Windsor Takes Steps to Preserve Sullivan Avenue Industrial Park Historic Building

Discussion began Monday to nominate the Increase Clapp House for the National Register of Historic Places.

The Increase Clapp House, a historic home located on the distribution center’s future site, is approaching the possibility of nomination for the National Register of Historic Places after much discussion at the city council meeting on Monday, the Hartford Courant reported.

Matthew Galligan, Town Manager, said he’s working with Scannell Properties, an Indiana-based development company leading the project, on finding a way to properly preserve the house, according to the Courant.

The historic land is valued at $3.8 million and is zoned for industrial use, but has been vacant for the past 20 years, the Courant reported. A three-lot industrial subdivision is being planned for the land, which includes the Clapp House.
