South Windsor Volunteer Fire Department Holds Awards Ceremony
Jeff Futtner is Firefighter of the Year, while two members are recognized for 50 years of service and another two are recognized for 45 years of service.

The South Windsor Volunteer Fire Department held its annual banquet and awards ceremony Tuesday evening at Maneeley's Banquet and Catering Center.
"I thought it was successful evening; it was nice to recognize the guys and girls for what they do day in and day out," Fire Chief Kevin Cooney said in a telephone interview Wednesday. "It was nice to have the support of the Town Council, the vast majority of whom were there."

The department also received a unit citation from the State of Connecticut for its participation in Storm Sandy. The following individuals of the unit also received citations:
