Subcommittee Plans for Vibrant Communities Grant
Historic buildings discussions on the agenda
The Planning and Zoning Committee's Main Street subcommittee will meet tonight at 6:30 to discuss plans for the Vibrant Community Initiative Grant.
Goals for the meeting, as listed on the Town's website, include establishing project boundaries, determining the goals of the grant, identifying properties of special interest to be included, and reviewing the time frame for the project.
The grant, which was originally awarded in December 2013, assists Connecticut residents in preserving historic buildings and Main Street communities. These communities, including several in Windsor, are viewed as important resources for the state.

"East Windsor Hill is on State and National historic registers where its quality and resource are recognized," writes the subcommittee, "but are offered little protection."
The subcommittee seeks to use the grant to garner protection for buildings over 75 years old.
