Lawmaker, Scouts, Teaming Up For Flag Retirement Ceremony In Willington

WILLINGTON – State Rep. Tammy Nuccio (R-53rd) is partnering with BSA Troop 82 to help residents retire their worn or frayed U.S. flags in a dignified and respectful way.

There will be two separate drop-off locations in Willington for flags that are no longer in a condition to be displayed. The collection drive will take place from until Sept. 19 and all flags will be retired during a ceremony on Sept. 20 at the Willington Town Green on Route 74.

The collection effort is part of the 11th Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony organized by BSA 82.

Everyone is welcome at the ceremony, which begins at 1 p.m. Anyone that has a flag needing to be retires can bring it to the ceremony and place it on the fire in honor and memory of a loved one.
