STAFFORD, CT — A pillar of the businesses community in Stafford for nearly a half-century has died.

Leonard B. "Lenny" Chevalier, 74, "passed away peacefully" at his home Monday, according to his obituary from Leete-Stevens Family Funeral Homes. He was known in his hometown of Enfield and business home in Stafford as "Lenny."

He was the owner and operator of Leonard's Auto Parts on Route 190 in Stafford for 46 years.

Before opening the store, Chevalier served in the Air National Guard. Leonard's Auto Parts then became "a cornerstone of the automotive parts and paint community," his obituary said.

His cousin, Rob Salvas, told Patch, "I was always honored to call Lenny my cousin. He was genuinely such a kind and caring person."

Chevalier was also known for his love for animals and considered his dogs and cat as members of the family.

Calling hours are scheduled for 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road. A Mass of Christian Burial is slated for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at St. Patrick's Church, 64 Pearl St., Enfield.
