STAFFORD, CT — The public comment period is about to expire for a brownfields site in Stafford.

The town is in the midst of a 30-day public comment period about "cleanup alternatives" for the former Earl M. Witt School property at 20 Hyde Park Road in Stafford. The property was decommissioned by the Board of Education and transferred to the town of Stafford on Nov. 26, 2007.

The project is supported by a 2022 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Cleanup
Cooperative Agreement with a town cost-share. Officials are currently examining the findings of an intensive study of the land and remediation options.
