Stafford, Willington Hit Hardest By Power Outages During Clipper
Stafford and Willington seemed to get the worst of a clipper system that hit north central Connecticut in terms of power outages.

STAFFORD/WILLINGTON — Stafford seemed to bear the brunt of a fast-moving clipper system the caused havoc with the local electrical systems Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Willington was also adversely affected and, collectively, the two municipalities led the state in power outages.
As of 8 a.m., according to the Eversource Energy Outage Map for Connecticut 5,615 customers in Stafford — a whopping 86.5 percent — while Willington was at 480 powerless customers, or 15.8 percent.

By 10 a.m., in Stafford, that count was still high — at 5,346, but Eversource crews were making progress throughout Thursday morning. A hour later, it was at 4,078, down to 62.93 percent. Fifteen minutes after that report, 3,396, or 57 percent. It was 888 at 1:45 p.m. At 6:15 p.m., the outage number was down to 206.
In Willington, at 10 a.m., the count jumped to 704 customers without power, or 23 percent of the town. At 11 a.m., it was back down to the 400s as crews were making steady progress. At 11:15 a.m., the count was down to 331, or 10.86 percent. At 1:45 p.m., the number was 120. There were "fewer than four" outages at 6:15 p.,., according to the outage map.

Union was at 25 percent for most of the morning. At 11:15 a.m., 116 customers were without power, according to the outage map. As the clock turned to the afternoon, it was 95. It was 65 at 6:15 p.m.
