Yesterday, Governor Ned Lamont announced plans to distribute three million COVID-19 at-home rapid tests and six million N95 masks in Connecticut to help curb the spread of COVID-19 during this heavy travel and holiday season.

The first allotment of this initiative will include the distribution of 500,000 test kits throughout the state, each containing two tests for a total of one million tests designated for the general public. These test kits are being provided by the state to be distributed without costs to local residents.

Willington is expected to receive 720 kits. As there are not enough tests for every resident of our town, the primary focus is for members of the public who have a known exposure or are symptomatic and are unable to find another test. The CT DPH Commissioner is strongly recommending that CT residents limit the number of tests per household so that others can get them too.

Distribution will be limited to residents with an immediate need:

(a) individuals/families that believe they might have been exposed or have been experiencing symptoms.

(b) individuals that traveled over the holidays and have been experiencing symptoms

The Town will be distributing these kits on a first come first serve basis at a drive thru pickup. Each kit contains two tests. Due to limited availability, we are only able to provide up to TWO test kits per household at this time. You must be a Willington resident and MUST show ID at the time of pick-up.

The distribution times are:

Thursday - December 30 - 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM - Willington Fire Dept #1 - 426 River Rd

The State announced that in January there will be more test kits available through the Federal Government order of 500 million at-home rapid test kits recently announced by the Biden Administration.
