2 Corrections Officers Injured During Incident At Prison In Suffield
An inmate armed with a makeshift blade attacked a pair of officers at the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution Wednesday morning.

SUFFIELD, CT — A pair of employees at the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield were injured Wednesday morning when an inmate armed with a sharpened piece of metal became combative, according to the DOC Office of Public Information.
The incident took place around 7:40 a.m., when the unidentified inmate refused to return to his cell. While correction officers attempted to apply wrist restraints, the inmate attempted to strike responding staff members, who discovered he had a makeshift weapon in the form of a sharpened piece of metal in one hand, of which staff members quickly took control, according to the DOC.
The inmate was placed in the facility’s Restrictive Housing Unit. A lieutenant and a correction officer sustained minor injuries, and were treated by onsite medical staff, according to the DOC.
