Cause Of West Suffield House Fire Still Under Investigation

WEST SUFFIELD, CT — The cause of a fire which tore through a small house near Congamond Lake on the Massachusetts state line early Saturday morning in still under investigation by fire officials.

The blaze in a single-story home on A Court was reported at 1:34 a.m., Fire Chief Scott Cunningham said. The first units to arrive at the scene reported the house "was fully involved" with flames, and assistance was provided by the neighboring Southwick (MA) Fire Department, as well as firefighters from Windsor Locks.

Within an hour of arrival, firefighters had brought the blaze under control. The property has been declared "a total loss,"Cunningham said.

The interior of the home is in the midst of renovations, therefore the property was uninhabited at the time. No injuries were reported, Cunningham said.

Fire Marshal Eric Vincent is investigating the cause of the fire, Cunningham said.
