Great Campus Accomplishments By Suffield College Students

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Several student leaders and interns at Eastern Connecticut State University's Center for Community Engagement (CCE) are spearheading various outreach programs in Willimantic this semester. The common denominator for each volunteer is personal development through their commitment to community outreach. Among these students is Giavanna Marmo of West Suffield, a sophomore majoring in psychology.

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Boston MA

• Sydney Urch of West Suffield was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Urch is among approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY

• On October 30, Haley Young of West Suffield was among the 210 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seniors inducted into the Order of the Engineer, a national organization dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards for the engineering profession. In addition to taking the Order of the Engineer pledge, each inductee received a stainless-steel ring to be worn on the little finger of their dominant hand. The rings represent each student's daily commitment to serving humanity through engineering. These students will follow in the footsteps of RPI graduates who, since 1824, have applied technology and innovation to solving the world's toughest problems.

Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester NH

• Emily Rose of West Suffield has been named to Southern New Hampshire University's summer 2024 President's List. The summer terms run from May to August. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.
