Want To See How Policing Works? Suffield PD Opens Citizen Academy

The eight-week course provides an inside look at policing through classes, discussions, and ride-alongs.

SUFFIELD, CT — Residents who want to learn more about what police work is really like can sign up for the Citizen Police Academy being offered by the Suffield Police Department.

The free program is designed to give community members a behind-the-scenes look at how modern policing works, with classes led by the officers who serve Suffield. The goal is to help residents better understand what police do on a daily basis and to encourage open conversation between officers and the community.

According to the department, the academy includes eight classes that meet once a week on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each session lasts about two hours and covers different aspects of police work.
