About 25 Vehicle Break-Ins Reported In East Haddam
Thieves hit about 25 cars, both locked and unlocked, in East Haddam over the weekend. One of those targeted was a state police cruiser.

EAST HADDAM, CT — Police are searching for two suspects after reports of about 25 vehicle break-ins in East Haddam. One of the vehicles targeted was a state police cruiser, which sustained window damage.
State Police Troop K in Colchester received several phone calls about locked and unlocked vehicles being burglarized at 6:46 a.m. Saturday.
Police believe the suspects were driving a white Subaru Forester.

Residents on Neptune Avenue in East Haddam had surveillance video of the Subaru on Saturday morning, which showed two suspects getting out and rifling through cars, WFSB 3-TV reported.
East Haddam First Selectman Irene Haines wrote on Facebook that Saturday night's "criminal activity is not the norm in our town." She described the town's police coverage, which includes an assigned trooper and three patrol officers, and said the town is looking for another police officer to hire.

"We are currently addressing these recent brazen attacks to mailboxes and to car break-ins," she wrote. "I encourage everyone to lock your cars. If you experience any kind of breach, please call 911."
