Here are the top three stories today in The Haddams-Killingworth:
- Will the Deer Lake property be preserved as open space? The answer is still unknown. the Connecticut Yankee Council of the Boy Scouts of America, rejected an offer from the non-profit organization Pathfinders. Reportedly, Ted Langevin, chairman of Pathfinders, said he considered the offer Pathfinders made a “... a superior offer." but it was rejected. The deadline for offers on the property was recently extended, by Connecticut Attorney General William Tong in cooperation with the Boy Scout Council, from March 31 until May 1. (HK Now)
- A heads up for motorists: Construction to replace the bridge on Route 154, Saybrook Road in Middletown just south of the Aircraft Road/Route 9 exit intersection is currently underway. It is scheduled to be finished by November 30. Traffic will be limited to one lane for much of the construction time period. (Patch)
- The Chester-Hadlyme Ferry is officially in service. After the opening day was delayed due to maintenance, the Ferry made its seasonal maiden journey across the Connecticut River on Saturday and is now running on schedule. The iconic local ferry is one of the oldest in the country. Come take a ride! (CT Insider)
