Here are the top three stories today in The Haddams-Killingworth:

  1. A legal notice has been sent out by the town of East Haddam letting the residents know that there will be a multi-question referendum held at the gymnasium of the Municipal Office Complex, 1 Plains Road, Moodus on Tuesday, May 24. Residents are being asked to come and cast their votes on multiple issues. The polls will be opened at 6 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. Absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerk’s Office. (Town of East Haddam)
  2. The Spring 2022 Hospital Safety Grades report was recently released by The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit health care watchdog group. The ratings reflect care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hospitals were assigned letter grades based on more than 30 measures of patient safety.   3. It's time again for the annual Jams for Cans food drive event for the Deep River Food Pantry. The brainchild of Hillyn Natter-Schmelzer, the goal of the event is to unite community, enjoy area musicians and gather food to aid food-insecure residents in the tri-town area. The event will be held on Saturday, May 21 at the Deep River Ambulance headquarters. (Zip06)
