Explosion, Fire In East Haddam: Authorities
Emergency crews at the scene encountered a structure fire with hazards such as propane and ammunition.

EAST HADDAM, CT — Firefighters responded to an explosion and structure fire Sunday in East Haddam.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Pine Road, according to the fire department, which said crews encountered a fire with hazards in the structure such as propane and ammunition.
Two structures were on fire and a secondary brush fire occurred as well, NBC CT reported. A neighbor told WFSB the blaze was thought to have originated from propane tanks in a shed.

The fire was controlled and two nearby houses were saved, according to the department, which said 25 East Haddam firefighters responded. The blaze is under investigation by the town fire marshal’s office.
