Haddam Man Cut Off GPS Bracelet, Fled State After OUI Crash: Police
A man was held on a combined $3.5 million bond after police took him into custody in Rocky Hill Tuesday.
HADDAM, CT — A man is accused of cutting of his GPS bracelet and fleeing the state after a crash involving serious injuries, according to police.
Rocky Hill police responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle accident on West Street and Gilbert Avenue on Dec. 31.
One driver suffered serious injuries in the accident. Police identified the driver of the other vehicle as David Ferrari, 35, of Haddam.

Police investigated and said they found Ferrari was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Before the accident, Ferrari was on a court-ordered GPS bracelet for pending cases in Middletown. Ferrari did not cooperate with the investigation, cut his GPS bracelet off days after the crash, and fled the state, according to police.

Police then got an arrest warrant with nationwide extradition for Ferrari.
Police learned of Ferrari's location and coordinated with law enforcement in other areas of the country to locate him.
Ferrari was taken into custody at the Rocky Hill Police Department on Tuesday morning.
He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence (third offense), reckless driving, operating under suspension (alcohol suspension), second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, and first-degree reckless endangerment.
He also had three active arrest warrants for first-degree failure to appear out of Middletown court.
He was held on a combined $3.5 million bond and was due to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Wednesday.
