- According to an HK Now article, "Alexander Lara of Haddam was recently honored in Washington, D.C. as the winner of the 40th Annual Congressional Art Competition for Connecticut’s Second Congressional District. Alex, a rising senior at Haddam-Killingworth High School, was among hundreds of high school-age artists from around the country. Their artwork will be displayed in the Capitol until Spring of 2023. The son of Al Lara and Diane Ifkovic of Haddam, Alex’s entry was the overall winner chosen by local art judges organized by Congressman Joe Courtney. It was selected from among multiple local submissions."(HK Now)
- Mark your calendars for Science Wednesdays for Tiny Thinkers at the Killingworth Library 10:30– 11:15 a.m. This six-week program is filled with hands-on activities! Children ages 2-5 will explore colors, discover what makes things float, learn about wind and rain, and have fun experimenting with gravity. Space is limited, so please register for each session that you wish to attend. (Killingworth Library)
- Foxwoods Resort Casino has opened a 2,200-seat High Stakes Bingo Hall, according to The Hartford Business-Journal. The bingo hall unveiling is part of the casino's 30th anniversary celebration. The new 30,000-square-foot bingo hall offers higher stakes bingo games and expanded prize pools. The new bingo hall comes following several other expansions at the casino, including a new VIP Canopy Players' Lounge and new dining options, The Hartford Business-Journal reported. (Patch)
