- The Town of Haddam is always in need of volunteers on various committees/commissions. Here is a list of the current vacancies that need to be filled: There is a vacant seat on the Haddam Parks & Recreation Commission. If you are interested in serving on this Commission please email JoAnn Ricciardelli: selectasst@haddam.org Please include any relevant experience. Sustainability Committee is looking for people to volunteer at the Transfer Station to support our Food Scraping Recovery project. For more information please email: haddamsustainabilitycommittee@gmail.com. There is a vacant seat on the Planning Implementation Committee. Please contact Bill Warner, the Town Planner if you are interested. townplanner@haddam.org. There are vacant seats on the Committee on Aging. - Mark your calendars for the upcoming Haddam Volunteer Fire Company’s Open House, which will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13 in front of the former Haddam Elementary School. According to a HK Now article, the event will include: Touch-a-Truck (fire truck tours) response demonstrations with “the Jaws of Life,” photos with a firefighter, meet and greet with Connecticut State Police, meet and greet with Haddam Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, try on turnout gear, tools of the trade, membership opportunities and free snacks and drinks Hope to see you there!(HK Now)

Reportedly, nearly six out of 10 young adults live within 10 miles of where they grew up and eight in 10 live within 100 miles, according to a new study by the U.S. Census Bureau and Harvard University.
