'Started A Successful LLC': The Haddams-Killingworth Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in his town.

THE HADDAMS-KILLINGWORTH, CT — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Kathryn Mann who nominated her son, Thomas.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Thomas has been to both public and private schools without success. Thomas has Tourette’s syndrome with a movement disorder and also on the spectrum. Finding the “right school” after homeschooling for two years during the pandemic has made a complete difference in self-esteem, confidence and school success. Thriving in his new school as a 9th grader, as well as thriving in his home based business Beach Innovations by TM LLC, Thomas has become the confident hard-working student that has overcome the hurt caused when “you don’t fit in”. Thomas now loves school and is excelling and going beyond…. We are so proud of our son! Not everyone goes at the pace of others, but when you find the right situation and support the “world is your Oyster”. Thomas my never be an athlete or on a speech team but he will go far with his loving heart, kind spirit and understanding of others with disabilities like his. Thomas is lovely and beautiful!
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Thomas!
