'Suspicious Man' in Ski Mask Arrested Near Haddam Gas Station: Police
The 30-year-old Higganum resident allegedly had a large butcher knife with him.

On Friday, March 18, at approximately 7:02 p.m., troopers from Troop F responded to The Gas Plus, 210 Saybrook Rd., Haddam, after receiving a phone call about a suspicious man wearing a ski mask and hanging around behind the Gas Plus building.
The witness stayed on the phone with Troop F and stated the man observed the witness watching them and then removed his mask, changed his shirt and walked away.
Police said the witness provided a detailed description of the man and continued to observe the area until troopers arrived.
The man was identified as Matthew Mosher, 30, of 4 Calliari Place, Higganum. Trooper John Swokla said Mosher was in possession of a black ski mask and allegedly had a large butcher knife with him.
He was taken into custody and transported to Troop F for processing.
Mosher was charged with the following:
- Possession of a deadly weapon
- Criminal attempt of robbery in the first degree
- Interfering/resisting
He was issued a $150,000 bond and a March 21 court date.
