A River, A Lake, A Dam, And A Hurricane Are All Topics of Discussion Today

Five things to help you plan your day in Old Lyme, East Lyme, and Lyme on Wednesday, August 14, 2013.

1. Clouds this morning will gradually clear as the day goes on. There's just a 20 percent chance of rain today, according to Weather.com, which is predicting a high temperature of 74 degrees and an overnight low of 55 degrees.

2. East Lyme's natural resources will be the focus of meetings this evening. The Niantic River Gateway meets at East Lyme Town Hall at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Conservation of Natural Resources meeting at 7:00 p.m. The Board of Finance meeting originally scheduled for tonight has been canceled.

3. The Rogers Lake Authority meets at Rogers Lake Clubhouse at 7:30 p.m. This will probably be a good opportunity to catch up with what's happening with dam construction on the lake, which is being lowered to accommodate the work. Old Lyme First Selectwoman Bonnie Reemsnyder offered an update in her latest newsletter

4. There will be a meeting about Old Lyme Affordable Housing tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Old Lyme Town Hall.

5. Today's live lunch chat is one you won't want to miss as hurricane season ramps up. Patch has two hurricane experts online today to answer your questions about how these deadly storms are likely to impact New England. The chat starts at noon.
