Beware of Fog and Road Work Today
Five things to help you plan your day, Tuesday, August 13, in East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme

1. Weather Alert: The National Weather Service has issued a special weather alert this morning warning of dense fog in Southern New London County, particularly near bodies of water. Be prepared for areas of dense fog that may reduce visibility to less than one-quarter of a mile.
2. Don't Forget Your Umbrella: There's an 80 percent chance of rain today, a 30 percent chance of rain this evening, and the possibility of thunderstorms throughout the day and into this evening. Temperatures will top out at 71 degrees with an overnight low of 61 degrees, according to Weather.com.
3. Road Work Starts Today: Repaving in East Lyme on Overbrook Road, Spring Rock Road, Green Valley Lakes Road, Frogs Hollow Road, and Red Fox Road will create delays starting August 13. Roads will be open to local traffic only; please use alternate route.
4. Deadline Approaching: Do you bake the world's greatest pie? Have your grown impressive produce? Made a picture of which you're really proud? Show them off at the Hamburg Fair and enter to win prizes.
All entries should be taken to the Grange Hall in Lyme Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 1:00-4:30 p.m. Judging takes place in the Grange Hall on Friday night 5-8 p.m. The Grange will remain closed during this time. The chairman will make final decision should there be a judging conflict of any contest. No late entries will be accepted and all entries should be picked up Sunday at 5 p.m. No professionals are allowed to compete or exhibit. Find out more here.
5. Meeting Rescheduled: The Old Lyme WPCA meeting originally scheduled for today has been postponed until Thursday at Old Lyme Town Hall at 6:30 p.m.
