East Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook Receive $1.7 Million In State Funds

The state has approved funding for a range of local infrastructure projects.

EAST LYME, CT — East Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Salem received a total of $1.7 million in funding through the state's Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) for infrastructure improvements, according to a statement from Sen. Martha Marx (D-New London).

Funding will support projects including reconstruction of the Plants Dam, renovations and expansion of the Lymes' Senior Center, and additional important town resource improvements.

"I'm so encouraged by these projects receiving funding and thankful to Governor Lamont's administration for its support," Marx said in a statement. "Our region will receive important and valuable support for local infrastructure and important town resources, with all of these projects representing collaborations between towns and the state. I can't wait to see these projects advance."

Projects receiving support from STEAP include:

  • East Lyme: $500,000 in state funding is approved for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Plants Dam. This will be matched by $137,900 in town funds.
  • Old Lyme: $500,000 in state funding is approved for the Lymes’ Senior Center renovations and expansion. This will be matched by $2,813,193 in town funds. This project is a regional shared service with the town of Lyme.
  • Old Saybrook: $500,000 in state funding is approved for fire department radio upgrades. This will be matched by $85,878 in town funds.
  • Salem: $198,560 in state funding is approved for town hall upgrades. This will be matched by $49,700 in town funds.
