Good Clean Fun At The Children's Museum In Niantic

The Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut enlists three members of the First Company Governor's Foot Guard to help build its new exhibit.

If your kids love bubble baths then they're going to have a blast in the Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut's new exhibit. It's an entire area filled with bubbles for kids to play in.

The Niantic museum enlisted help from three members of the 1st Company Governor's Foot Guard to build the fence enclosure for the new exhibit. Sgt. Major Dave Welley, 1st Lieutenant Wayne Donohue, and 2nd Lieutenant Kevin McCrewell, who are currently training at Camp Niantic, spent yesterday morning erecting the new structure.

"It's been a lot of fun," said Donohue, who got everyone involved in the project because his coworker's wife is the museum's education coordinator and he knew they could use a hand. "I said if we were here, we could help."

The foamy fun is just one of two new features at the museum. The second is a collection of firm foam building blocks inside the museum that kids can use to create their own playscape. It's a bit like Lincoln Logs, only on a much larger scale.

Museum Executive Director Peter Claffey believes it's always a good idea to "go with the classics ... and we know kids love to play in the tub."
