According to the East Lyme Police Department, a late model BMW sedan was stolen and an attempt to steal a BMW SUV was made.

"The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Waterbury, CT," police said. "This office has been dispatched to investigate several of the car breaks and reports indicate that for the most part the thieves only stole money, GPS's and credit cards. It was also noted that the offenders only stole items from unlocked vehicles. Please ensure that you properly secure your vehicles and do not leave valuable items in view. These simple steps could prevent you from being a victim."

The case is under investigation by East Lyme Detective Mark Comeau.
