Fantasy Adventure Book Author Visits Tolland
P.W. Catanese talked about his sequel to "Jack and the Beanstalk" at the library on Tuesday.

P.W. Catanese, a writer of fantasy adventure books for children ages 9 to 12, entertained a crowd of about 15 people Tuesday night at the with his tales of getting published and where he gets his inspiration.
Catanese, of Bolton, said he got the idea to write a sequel to "Jack and the Beanstalk" when reading the classic fairy tale over and over to his then-young daughter. That led to "The Thief and the Beanstalk" and four more sequels to fairy tales. He is also the author of the popular "Books of Umber" trilogy.

Catanese visited the library as part of the Tolland Public Library Foundation's "Year of the Young Adult" initiative, which offers programs and materials aimed at having young people rediscover their town library.
The visit was funded by the Foundation's Eaton-Dimock-King Endowment and was the latest installment in the Eaton-Dimock-King Authors Series.
