Outdoor Field Proposed For Tolland Sports Bubble Complex
Star Hill wants to build an outdoor field to add to its indoor opportunities.

TOLLAND, CT — An outdoor field has been proposed for one of the youth athletics epicenters in the region.
The Star Hill Family Athletic Center in Tolland submitted the plans to Tolland planning officials on Aug, 23 and they were officially reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission this week. Star Hill features a multi-field indoor complex under a bubble and an adjacent building with a gym, pool and offices for an orthopedic medicine practice.
The complex sits at 100 Gerber Drive in the Tolland Business Park, close to Route 30 and the Vernon line.

The field has been proposed for the southerly end of the lower parking lot. According to the plans, it will be primarily used for tournament play and summer camp activities. A net at the north end and a chain link fence are part of the project, but lights and seating are not, the plans dictate.
The area proposed for the field is relatively flat and, but some grading and modification will be needed, according to the plans.

Three turnaround areas would be added to the southern portion of the existing parking lot, according to the plans. Some additional drainage work is included.
Star Hill owners are requesting a special permit for site plan modification.
Though Star Hill can accommodate several fields and several sports under the bubble, it has been lacking an outdoor space that many regional competitors have.
