TOLLAND, CT — Tolland most remote park is inching closer to becoming a popular pickleball hub.

Construction began in September to build four pickleball courts at Heron Cove.

In November, the court was painted, striped and the fencing was installed. Work on the ADA-accessible path and site restoration is continuing in December, Tolland Town Manger Brian Foley said in his latest report to the town council.

The project is utilizing funds from a state-administered Small Town Economic Assistance Program to the tune of $415,000.

The Heron Cove courts are exclusive to pickleball. Tolland also has combination tennis and pickleball courts at Crandall Park. A total of $500,000 was allotted from a STEAP grant to pay for the Crandall project.
