Tolland Alert Helps in Case of Missing Teen

The emergency alert system helped authorities locate a missing teenager last weekend.

The new Tolland Alert system helped authorities find a , according to Assistant Fire Chief Doug Racicot.

Police activated a reverse 911 alert, as well as the Tolland alert, when Tolland resident .

According to , dispatchers received at least 300-400 phone calls from citizens the hour after the alert went out. One of those many tips was crucial to solving the case.

"We received information as to the town where the missing child was located," Lt. Albanese said. "It led to her safe return."

Tolland Fire Chief and Public Safety Director John Littell said that residents can sign up for the system on the town's website. Participants can choose to sign up for a variety of different alerts, including but not limited to, weather events, emergency events, road closures, parking ban notices and more.
