TOLLAND, CT — Anyone need parts from an old fire vehicle? Tolland is about to decommission a 17-year-old truck at Tuesday's town council meeting.

According to the meeting packet, the Tolland Fire Department has determined that a 2007 Ford F350 Super Duty four-wheel-drive truck is obsolete and no longer in working order. It is being proposed that the truck be traded or sold off as surplus property.

After some recent work, mechanics noted on a repair order that the vehicle should not be driven due to several issues with the frame, rust and a bed that is lower than the cab due to frame mounts being rusted out, fire officials said.

Repair estimates are more than $16,000 and many parts would be difficult to find, even through area scrap yards, fire officials said.

If cleared as surplus property, the truck could be advertised on the portal GOVdeals, fire officials said.
