Nancy started off as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in 1982 with the Tolland Volunteer Ambulance Association (TVAA) where she later became a CPR Instructor and an Emergency Medical Services Instructor (EMSI) teaching many CPR and EMT classes for the department. After TVAA consolidated with TFD in 1988, Nancy continued to serve the community as an EMT, firefighter, fire apparatus driver, EMSI, and served for a short time on the Board of Directors. Nancy also was employed with Pratt & Whitney Fire Department in East Hartford where she served as a career firefighter, EMT, and Hazardous Material Technician (HMT). Nancy contributed in many ways helping out with little things that generally were left unnoticed including helping with computer skills, helping with classes, or driving fire apparatus when the regular drivers were unavailable. Nancy also never asked for anything in return and would always help when anything needed to get done for the department. In 2007, Nancy retired from the Tolland Fire Department and was named an Honorary Member. Nancy came back to help the fire department as a Special Member to assist with teaching EMS training from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, Nancy finally retired from volunteering with over 28 years of service. Nancy, may you rest in peace and we thank you for your service to the Tolland community!
