Water Commission Likely to Approve 15 Percent Rate Increase
The Tolland Water Commission held a public hearing on the rate changes on Monday night.

The Tolland Water Commission will likely approve the proposed 15 percent rate increase for TWC customers at its May 7 meeting, according to a public hearing that the commission held on Monday night.
The commission is proposing to raise the rate for the second time in 30 years for its Tolland customers; the first rate increase took place last year, according to chairperson Eugene Koss.Â
While rates would increase approximately 15 percent for the main system customers, the change would be slightly larger for those on the Skungamaug water system, since the commission purchases water from the Connecticut Water Company to supplement those customers.

Koss said that the rate changes are essential to restore the "fiscal health of the water system." Infrastructure updates are also needed for many parts of both systems.
Letters have been sent out to the TWC customers. Take a look at the proposed rates, attached above.
