The holiday trash and recycling schedule has been posted for Vernon.

VERNON, CT — The holiday trash and recycling schedule has been posted for Vernon.
The Vernon Public Works Department will be closed Wednesday, Dec, 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday and Wednesday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Trash and and recycling will not be collected on those days but instead will be collected on Thursday Dec. 26, and Thursday Jan. 2, respectively, along with that day's regular collection.
The Vernon Transfer Station will be closed for Christmas on Wednesday, Dec. 25, and for New Year's on Jan. 1.

Excess refuse and recycling may be brought to the Transfer Station free of charge year-round, no punch card or permit required.
Christmas Tree Disposal - Christmas trees will be collected the first two full weeks in January, weather-permitting. In addition, the Transfer Station will be accepting Christmas trees for disposal the entire month of January, no permit or punch card required. Decorations, tinsel and plastic bags must be removed.
