Woman Falls Through Ice On Bolton Lake In Christmas Day Accident

VERNON, CT — A woman was pulled from Bolton Lake on Christmas Day after falling through a section of ice, Vernon. police said.

At 10:30 a.m., the Vernon Police Department received a call about a person who had fallen into Bolton Lake. Officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to the area of 55 Llynwood Drive and located a woman in her 50s who had fallen through the ice, according to an incident report.

Life saving measures were performed at the scene, police said. Life Star helicopter was also requested to the scene and the woman was eventually transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment, according to an incident report.

The case remained open Wednesday afternoon and Vernon police were warning residents to use caution when going out on the ice on a pond or lake.

"Ice is never 100 percent safe. Please consult with Connecticut Department of Energy and
Environmental Protection guidelines for further recommendations regarding ice safety," police said.
