Obituary: Robert “Bob” Allen Betlow, 80, of Wallingford
Bob enjoyed a long career as a dedicated shop teacher at Lyman Hall, Maloney and Platt Tech High Schools for nearly 40 years.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Robert “Bob” Allen Betlow, 80, of Wallingford, husband of Lorraine (Pernel) Betlow, passed away March 5, 2022 at Masonicare in Wallingford.
Bob was born in Youngstown, Ohio on May 22, 1941, a son of the late Henry and Thelma (Booterbaugh) Betlow.
He was predeceased by his sister, Janet (Betlow) Jakiela.
Bob earned three degrees in education, a Bachelor’s, Master’s and 6th year in Administration. Bob worked as a shop teacher for Lyman Hall High School from 1966 until 1969, then for Platt High School from 1969 until 1992, and then for Maloney High School until his retirement in 2005. In additional to his high school classes, Bob also taught Adult Ed and GED classes.
Bob continued to work part-time for the school with the Board of Education Maintenance after his retirement from teaching. During his life he held a private pilot’s license and was active in the Boy Scouts.
In addition to his wife, Lorraine, he is survived by three children Laura Betlow of Milford, CT; Jennifer (Betlow) Nodelman and husband Jeremy of Attleboro, MA, and Bob Betlow and his wife Bridget of Midlothian, VA., five grandchildren Thomas and Joe Betlow of Midlothian, VA, Andrew and Mathew Morgenbesser in the Portland ME area, and Kimberly Morgenbesser of Crown Point, IN and her two children, Noah and Ella.
He is also survived by niece Beth (Jakiela) Schapira, her husband Cary and their two children Benjamin and Isabella of North Kingstown, RI.
All funeral services are private. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext.
