A Wallingford man was sentenced Wednesday to 30 months in federal prison for selling oxycodone and marijuana.
Robert Melillo, 25, was arrested in February during "Operation Bloodline," an investigation conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies in New Haven targeting narcotics trafficking and gang violence in the Dwight-Kensington and Fair Haven sections of the city.
Investigators say Melillo conspired with others to distribute oxycodone and marijuana, and that he traveled to California on multiple occasions to purchase large quantities of marijuana, which he then shipped back to Connecticut to be distributed in the New Haven area.
On August 29, 2012, law enforcement officers stopped Melillo upon his arrival at the San Francisco International Airport and seized $30,000 in U.S. currency from his carry-on bag.
In March, Melillo pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute oxycodone and marijuana.
In addition to prison time, he was sentenced to three years of supervised release.
