Cuban Youth Baseball Team Visits West Hartford

The young baseball players traveled from Cuba as part of a goodwill tour.

West Hartford, CT - A group of young baseball players from Cuba traveled to West Hartford this weekend as part of a historic trip.

A group of 20 players and coaches made the long journey by plane, bus and truck, from Holguin, Cuba, to West Hartford, according to WNPR.

The visit, part of the 2016 USA Cuba Goodwill Tour, was organized by Tim Brennan of Teen Cultures Connect, according to WNPR.

In April, a group of 18 teens from West Hartford traveled to Cuba as part of the USA/Cuba Goodwill Tour. The 14-year-olds played baseball and distributed donations in the City of Holguin.

The visit for the young, Cuban players lasted several days, and included baseball clinics, meeting Red Sox player Luis Tiant, and a visit to ESPN, according to WNPR.
