Guys & Dolls, Shakespeare Under the Stars, Town Council and More West Hartford Events This Week

This week in West Hartford, the Town Council will meet. You can catch some great theater performed by local students or outdoors on the grounds of the University of Saint Joseph, or experience a carillon concert while picnicking on the town green.

Capital Classics' Summer Shakespeare Festival Stages "The Winters Tale"
West Hartford's annual outdoor Shakespeare festival begins on Thursday and runs for three weekends in a row. The show are performed on the grounds of the University of Saint Joseph on Asylum Ave., but will be held indoors in case of rain. The West Hartford Town Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night in Room 314 of Town Hall. The major issue on the agenda will be a proposal to replace the existing buildings at 15-17 North Main St. with a single mixed-use office building that may contain a bank on the ground floor. A public hearing on that application, which was unanimously rejected by the Town Planning and Zoning Commission, will precede the Town Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. Click here for the complete agenda.

Carillon Concert at First Church of Christ Congregational
The bells of the Stearns Carillon will be performed by Isaac Wong of Australia from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Bring a chair and picnic on the town green.
