No Parking Ban, But Moving Your Vehicle Requested: West Hartford

Town officials say voluntarily moving your car will help public works crews clear snow, sleet and slush from local roadways.

Town officials Friday afternoon stopped short of a parking ban, but they're still requesting folks move their cars voluntarily so roads can be cleared Friday night into Saturday morning.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The wintry mix event Friday night into Saturday morning isn't enough to prompt West Hartford officials from instituting a parking ban.

But they are still asking folks to voluntarily move their vehicles.

"A wintery mix of snow and sleet is expected tonight before turning into all rain tomorrow morning," wrote the town Friday afternoon.

"While a parking ban will not be issued tonight, the Department of Public Works strongly encourages off-street parking so our crews can remove any snow that accumulates curb-to-curb."

Municipal parking lots, including schools and parks, may be used for off-street parking, according to the town.

"We ask that cars park close together, meaning do not to leave parking spaces between cars. This helps plow drivers to clear snow efficiently," wrote town officials.

Pay-to-park fees will apply at municipal center parking lots and parking garages.
