WEST HARTFORD, CT — While not the most exciting aspect of municipal services, a town's finance office is vital to balancing the books and ensuring accountability regarding a town's tax dollars.

And the Town of West Hartford was recently honored for ensuring just that.

The Government Finance Officers Association recently announced that the Town of West Hartford Financial Services Office received GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its FY 2025-2026 budget document.

"The award represents a significant achievement and reflects the town’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting," wrote the Town of West Hartford.

"To receive the budget award, the town had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation."

Special thanks and recognition went out to employees Lisa Newton, Pattie Lewis, Angela Iudiciani, Karie Hupfer, Erica Sledge, Jackie McLaughlin, and the financial services staff who "made this award possible," wrote the town.
