West Hartford Firefighters Respond to Small Fire at AC Petersen Farms

Small blaze may result in restaurant being closed for a couple of days, according to a fire official.

Firefighters on Tuesday morning responded to a minor fire at AC Petersen Farms on Park Road, according to Battalion Chief John Sokolowski.

The fire was contained to a boiler behind the fryolator, Sokoloski said, and the sprinkler extinguished it. Firefighters arrived around 9:30 a.m. to smoke showing from the building and Engine 1 pulled the line, Sokolowski said, but the fire had been extinguished by the time firefighters arrived.

"It was just a quick mop up and we ensured that no one was still in the building," Sokolowski said.

The popular eatery known for its ice cream may be closed a couple of days until the owners get clearance from the health department, Sokolowski.

A call to the restaurant went unanswered Tuesday evening.

It's the second fire at AC Petersen since July, though Sokolowski said he believes it's just coincidence.
