West Hartford Mural Project For The Deaf Seeks Inspiration
The school system's deaf/hard-of-hearing office is hosting a special event next week to garner input on a planned mural at the library.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — A mural is in the works to celebrate the local deaf/hard-of-hearing community, and a special event next week aims to draw some inspiration.
Deaf Services of West Hartford Public Schools is moving forward with another step in its mural project — inviting voices from across the deaf and hard-of-hearing community to share what communication access means to them.
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Blue Back Square's Webster Walk, folks are invited to share stories, experiences, and perspectives.

They will also be able to meet artist Michael Rice, who will use these contributions to help shape the mural’s message and direction.
The mural will be painted on the upper library wall that faces Webster Walk in Blue Back Square. ASL interpreters will be provided.

Originally slated for Thursday, Oct. 30, organizers moved the event to next week due to the expected rainstorm that day.
