West Hartford Officials OK Fiscal Boost For Library
The West Hartford Town Council approved funding for the library system to improve furniture, technology, and programs.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local officials recently awarded the West Hartford Public Library more than $29,000 to help it improve its programs, technology, and furnishings.
The West Hartford Public Library system operates three libraries in town — the Noah Webster, Bishop's Corner, and Faxon libraries.
At the West Hartford Town Council's last meeting on Sept. 29, members unanimously approved a resolution that, essentially, granted the library system an additional $29,148.

Those funds will help the library purchase new computers, supplies, furniture, and equipment for library staff and users.
They will also help the library fund "professional services" at the libraries, namely, performers for multiple library programs.

Specifically, the council approved an ordinance appropriating that amount of cash from what is called the West Hartford Library Fund.
This fund is a special account that serves as a place for government grants, donations, and private foundation funds.
In approving the resolution, the town appropriated: $2,000 for computer equipment; $12,148.27 for library furniture/equipment; $10,000 for administrative expenses; and $5,000 for other professional services.
The vote to approve the library appropriation was unanimous at 9-0 with minimal discussion during the meeting.
