Anti-ICE Protest In Hartford Turns Violent: Reports
Hundreds gathered at the ICE facility in Hartford on Thursday night to protest the shooting death of a mother at the hands of ICE agents.
HARTFORD, CT — Public outrage over federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions nationally boiled over in Hartford Thursday night.
That's when one protester was struck by a federal vehicle during a vigil for a woman slain by an ICE agent in Minnesota, prompting another protester to smash the rear window of a federal van.
According to WFSB Channel 3, video footage by a CT Insider reporter showed a car and a van leaving the federal ICE facility at 450 Main St. and striking a protester.

Hundreds of protesters gathered Thursday evening to demonstrate against the shooting death of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, who was shot in the head and killed by ICE agents on Wednesday in Minneapolis, Minn.
Federal authorities claim ICE shot and killed Good, a mother of three and an American citizen, out of self-defense, saying she was trying to run over the ICE agent.
Witnesses of the incident, however, say Good appeared to be simply driving away from an ICE operation upon command, pointing to video footage widely released of the killing.
The shooting, along with the shooting of a husband-and-wife in Portland, Ore., on Thursday, has ramped up tensions against ICE and President Donald Trump.
WTNH reports that Hartford Mayor Arunan Aralampalam has ordered a Hartford Police Department investigation into Thursday night's incident on Main Street.
Meanwhile, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., said he's been in contact with Aralampalam regarding what happened.
He urged protesters to be safe and keep the protests peaceful, alleging the federal Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, is looking for a reason to be violent against demonstrators.
"People are right to be furious, but it's important for our protest to be peaceful," Murphy wrote on "X." "The intent of DHS's inhumanity is to provoke a fight. Don't let them win."

I spoke with Mayor Arulampalam tonight about the incident in Hartford. My team and I will continue to gather details. People are right to be furious, but it's important for our protest to be peaceful. The intent of DHS's inhumanity is to provoke a fight. Don't let them win.
