West Hartford Urges Residents To Prep For Storm

The Town of West Hartford is asking residents to secure holiday decorations and keep storm drains clear as a rain/wind storm approaches.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The town Tuesday afternoon is urging residents to prepare for a day of bad weather, with a heavy rain/wind storm expected to hit the state on Wednesday.

According to a Town of West Hartford alert, a strong cold front with heavy rain and sustained south winds is expected to impact the area throughout Wednesday.

"The heaviest rainfall and strongest winds, with gusts around 50 mph, are expected to occur from tomorrow afternoon into the evening and may cause localized power outages," wrote the town.

"Traveling may be challenging tomorrow night. Residents are urged to secure any outdoor holiday decorations that the wind could blow away."

In anticipation of the storm, a flood watch has been issued for Hartford County.

"Please make sure leaves and leaf bags are not in the street. Leaves can cover the top of catch basins and exacerbate flooding issues," wrote the Town of West Hartford.

"If a catch basin near your home is covered with leaves, please remove them. Please stay alert for updates and changes to the weather forecast."
